Hisa Izawa

She was engaged in activities aiming to transmit Ainu culture together with her husband Masaharu Izawa. In 1950, she worked hard to create the predecessor of the Marimo Festival, and for her achievements, received a certificate of gratitude from the Lake Akan Ainu Association in 1999.
She has long participated and cooperated in the Sounkyo and Asahikawa Ice Festivals, among other events. In 1971, she took part in the construction of "Ainu Mosir" in Kamikawa Town, in which she cooperated in building cise. In addition, she has been promoting the raising of awareness of Ainu culture in the Kamikawa region by opening classes introducing singing and dancing, ceremonies, rituals and weaving in the Kamikawa and Asahikawa regions, among other activities, doing her utmost to foster successors.
