Setsu Kurokawa

 Setsu Kurokawa is an extraordinary person who has thorough knowledge of the Ainu's spiritual culture and Ainupuri (Ainu customs). Kurokawa was greatly influenced by her grandfather, Ikoanreki, and grew up exposed to Ainu culture and a variety of Ainu customs. She appeared in a documentary film produced by the Association for the Transmission and Maintenance of Ainu Intangible Culture and her talk in the film about her own experiences was highly evaluated. Kurokawa has contributed greatly to the prosperity and preservation of the intangible culture of the Ainu by working as a director of the Association for the Transmission and Maintenance of Ainu Intangible Culture and an instructor at an Ainu language school, as well as by performing in cultural events in various parts of Japan.

1971 Contributes to the establishment of the Biratori Ainu Culture Preservation Society .
1983 Becomes a director of the Biratori Ainu Intangible Culture Transmission and Preservation Society .
1993 Serves as an instructor for the children's class at Nibutani Ainu Language School in Biratori.
1994

The children's class under her instruction wins the Hokkaido Science and Culture Promotion Award for the Youth .

1995 The children's class under her instruction wins the Women's Fellowship Award.
