Yasuko Yamamoto

As a child, she acquited Ainu design tracing techniques prevalent in the Tokachi region from her grandmother.
She felt the necessity of handing down and preserving the Ainu culture that she had inherited, and has served as an instructor at the Ainu-design embroidery class for the members of the Obihiro Branch of the Ainu Association of Hokkaido and local residents since 1997. She has thus been doing her utmost in the promotion, dissemination and raising the awareness of Ainu culture, as well as in the education of storytellers.

1997 Establishes the Ainu-design embroidery class at the Obihiro Branch of the Ainu Association of Hokkaido
1998 Assumes the post of an instructor of embroidery at the Ainu Culture Practical Course (until 2000)
1999 Assumes the post of an instructor of emboridery at the Intensive Weaving Training Course (until 2000)
2000 Produces replica of cotton ware (cinjiri) with embroidery patterns as part of the project of compiling "Restoration Manual for Ainu Lifestyle"
2001- Assumes the post of an instuructor at the advanced practical course of Ainu pattern embroidery (until 2002)
